Virgin River Season 8 Actor’s Shocking Goodbye Leaves Fans Heartbroken md14

Virgin River is officially heading into a new era.

Netflix has confirmed that production on Season 8 is now underway in Vancouver, with filming scheduled to continue through August. The upcoming 10-episode installment will bring several major changes to the beloved drama — including cast departures, a significant time jump, and a surprising behind-the-scenes promotion for star Martin Henderson.

Henderson, who plays Jack Sheridan, is set to direct another episode after making his directorial debut in Season 6. He’ll continue balancing both acting and directing duties as the Netflix hit expands its storytelling.

Season 8 will also mark the end of Charmaine’s journey. Lauren Hammersley, who portrayed the complicated fan-favorite character since the beginning of the series, is not expected to return after Season 7 wrapped up her storyline.

The big bang theory artisans

Additional exits reportedly include Marco Grazzini and Sara Canning, while Rachel Drance and Nicholas Coombe are also unlikely to appear in the next chapter.

Despite the departures, several familiar faces are coming back. Ben Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Austin Nichols, and Codey Kearsley are all expected to return as the town faces another emotionally charged season.

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has confirmed a four-month time jump, allowing the series to move beyond the immediate aftermath of Mel and Jack’s daughter’s health crisis.

Season 8 is currently expected to premiere sometime in 2027.
