Emotional Virgin River Goodbye Has Fans Worried About Season 8 md14

Netflix’s cozy drama phenomenon Virgin River is officially back in production — but Season 8 is bringing significant changes to the ensemble.
Filming on the upcoming season began this week in Vancouver and is expected to run through August. The new installment will continue several unresolved storylines while simultaneously saying goodbye to a handful of characters.
Lauren Hammersley’s Charmaine is reportedly finished on the series following the conclusion of her arc in Season 7. Additional departures include Marco Grazzini and Sara Canning, signaling a notable shift in the supporting cast.
Meanwhile, Martin Henderson is once again expanding his creative involvement behind the scenes. The actor will direct an episode during Season 8 after previously making his directing debut on the Netflix drama.
Story-wise, the next season will reportedly jump ahead four months in time, allowing the series to move forward after the emotional medical storyline involving Mel and Jack’s daughter.
The upcoming episodes will also focus on Brady’s recovery, Denny’s future in medicine, and Clay’s search for his missing sister Layla.
Season 8 is expected to debut sometime in 2027.
